Our Dear friend, James Jones, had a burning passion for music. A few months before his last breath on September 23, 2022, he came to us with the idea to give the gift of music to treatment centers in the Acadiana area. Before he passed, we had already agreed on the name "Rock N Recovery". We planned to donate acoustic guitars to willing treatment centers in the area to nurture the healing culture of music and to develop exposure to Day One Foundations' mission in Lafayette. We believe music is a great way to create community and give a positive outlet for individuals to express themselves. Unfortunately, James passed away from a drug overdose before we could realize the potential of this effort. In memory of our friend and in the memory of all whom have lost their lives due to addiction, we have decided to name this program the James Jones Rock N Recovery Overdose Awareness Initiative. We will begin with completing our original effort. First, we will be selecting treatment centers to receive an acoustic guitar set. As an extension to that, we will begin planning a way to bring awareness to the issue of overdose in Acadiana and offer a solution to those that want it. Moreover, once the D.O.C. is officially open, we will have quarterly events to memorialize our loves ones we have lost to addiction.
Road Map
Road Map
- Raise the funds needed to purchase the acoustic guitar set (Ibanez Guitar, Bag, Strings, and Tuner) with information on Day One and the Rock N Recovery program on the back of the guitar
- Present the guitar sets to local treatment centers and introduce the Day One mission, overdose awareness, and other available resources for support.
- Host a quarterly event at the D.O.C. to memorialize our loved ones that died from addiction. We will give an opportunity to the victims' families to say a few words if they so choose.
- Extend our reach into schools to bring awareness to the adolescents.
